Humanitarian missions
With the non-profit organization See & Smile, Dr. Patrick Tonnard and Dr. Alexis Verpaele are committed to providing medical care to people who would otherwise have no access to it. During the humanitarian missions, a multidisciplinary team of plastic surgeons, ophthalmologists, dentists, anesthetists, and nurses travels to developing countries to help children and adults with conditions that severely affect their quality of life.
CARE WITH A HEART
A significant part of the work consists of treating children with a cleft lip and/or palate, a condition that is still common in many countries but that, without treatment, can lead to speech problems, feeding difficulties, and social exclusion. Thanks to the dedication of See & Smile, these children are given the chance to smile again without pain, shame, or limitation.
Since its foundation, the non-profit organization has helped more than two thousand patients with free surgeries and treatments, always with the same goal: changing lives, one smile at a time.
