Couperose laser treatment

Laser treatments are simple, quick, and have minimal side effects. The laser calculates the appropriate energy and delivers a focused beam of light to the skin. Some patients may experience a tingling or burning sensation during the procedure. The heat may cause temporary redness and/or mild swelling in the treated areas, lasting from a few hours up to several days. The redness can be easily covered with foundation. The treatment should not be interrupted.

The treatment produces visible results after four weeks: the treated blood vessels disappear immediately. By eliminating the dilated blood vessels, the diffuse redness fades after 1 to 2 sessions, with intervals of around six weeks between each session. If couperose returns over the years, additional treatments are always possible.

Other types of enlarged blood vessels can also be treated successfully with the laser, such as spider naevi (star-shaped dilated veins on the face), cherry angiomas (scattered red spots on the body), and smaller varicose veins on the legs.

Before the treatment, your skin should not be tanned. Therefore, avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products for at least 6 weeks prior to the treatment. After the treatment, it is also important to stay out of the sun for 6 weeks. If sun exposure cannot be avoided, always use a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30. For this reason, it is recommended to schedule this treatment outside of the summer months.

Avoid saunas, hot showers, and intense exercise for the first few days to allow your skin to recover. We also recommend using a hydrating and soothing cream to calm the skin and support the healing process.
