Laser hair removal
Why choose laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is a safe and effective method to reduce unwanted hair growth for the long term. Excessive hair growth can be a constant source of frustration for many people. Various hair removal methods, such as shaving, depilatory creams, hot wax, or epilators, provide only temporary results.
Laser hair removal is suitable for both men and women and can be performed on almost any part of the body, including the legs, armpit, arms, face, back, and bikini line.
How does laser hair removal work?
The treatment uses concentrated light that penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles. The heat from the laser damages the hair follicles, causing the hair to die.
Darker hairs absorb the most light and are therefore destroyed most effectively. Lighter-colored hairs absorb less light, making them more difficult to remove permanently. In other words, the ideal condition for laser hair removal is dark hair on light skin. When the skin is more heavily pigmented—naturally or due to sun exposure—some of the laser energy is absorbed by the skin pigment. This can cause discomfort and reduces the effect on the hair, as part of the energy is lost in the skin. There is also a risk of burns and depigmentation (white spots on the skin).
Laser hair removal is most effective during the active growth phase of the hair. Because not all hairs are in this phase at the same time, multiple treatments are necessary for permanent hair reduction. Additionally, some areas of the body have a higher proportion of hairs in the active phase than others. On the face, approximately 80% of hairs are in the active growth phase, while on the legs, this is only about 25%.
