Lipofilling
Why choose lipofilling?
Fat tissue is an ideal filler because it is autologous (from the patient’s own body) and therefore does not cause rejection reactions, unlike many commercially available chemical products.
What is lipofilling?
Lipofilling is a technique in which autologous fat tissue is used to restore volume in areas of the body that have lost fullness due to various causes. This method can be applied to almost any part of the body. In our practice, lipofilling is primarily used in the face as part of rejuvenation procedures, since facial fat tends to diminish with age. The procedure can be performed independently or in combination with other procedures such as eyelid surgery or a facelift.
Dr. Tonnard and Dr. Verpaele are internationally recognized authorities in the field of lipofilling. They have refined the original technique, developed by Dr. Sidney Coleman (USA), by using smaller fat particles (microfat) and by mechanically emulsifying fat into nanofat. This process removes larger fat cells and concentrates the smaller, regenerative stem cells. (See also nanofat)
