Rhinoplasty
Why choose a rhinoplasty?
Nasal irregularities, such as a nose that is too large, too small, or crooked, can be perceived by some people as highly bothersome. Often, years of doubt and embarrassment precede the decision to do something about it. Patients who choose rhinoplasty often feel misunderstood, as their immediate surroundings frequently do not notice or acknowledge the problem.
The goal of a nose correction is to bring the appearance more in line with one’s own expectations, thereby strengthening self-image. As with other cosmetic procedures, this is not about vanity or pursuing a beauty ideal, but about self-confidence, self-worth, and feeling more comfortable in one’s own skin.
Of all cosmetic treatments, rhinoplasty – together with the facelift – is among the procedures that can have the greatest positive psychological impact on a person’s well-being.
What is a rhinoplasty?
A rhinoplasty, or nose correction, is intended to change the external shape of the nose without affecting its function. Most often, this involves a reduction, but in some cases it may involve an augmentation, or a combination of both. When the nose appears too bulky, the procedure can provide greater refinement and a more defined nasal shape.
During the consultation prior to surgery, the surgeon will discuss your expectations and the possibilities in detail. In many cases, a simulation of the potential outcome will be created. It is essential that the surgeon fully understands what bothers you about your nose and whether it is technically feasible to improve it.
